dependency for newer JDKs (like JDK 11) and the Conventions archetype, and not
just a `test` scope dependency.
If that is the case, then the Conventions archetype should probably have the

I like to update the existing Struts2 Portlet Tutorial.

Archetype creation is Maven, not S2: how to create it doesn't really depends
on any frameworks in use.

In AppFuse Light, I use Ant and Maven to create the archetype and publish it.
I've found Ant is necessary to do some regex replacements on the files created
b/c there's some bugs in the Archetype Plugin.
You can see the pom.xml (and the create-archetype profile) and my build.xml
file that does

Another issue, during release:prepare I'm getting many *.asc files like these:

I upgraded the struts2-archetype-blank to use version 2.1.8 (didn't
committed yet) and added some small tweaks, you can check it at
mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeCatalog=http://www.lenart.org.pl/maven/

other builds by changing their POM to point to it. I think Martin
