A release requires a vote, whereas a build does not. Also,  referring to a test build as alpha is prejudging the quality of the  build; it could be better than that, or it could be worse, and  IMNSHO it reflects badly on us if we first claim it's alpha and  later are seen to change our minds

PROPOSAL LabelValueBean extension

2004-10-19 Thread vincent . siveton
Hi everybody, The LabelValueBean is a good convenience class. Currently, this class can NOT translate its label, so we cant use the message tag in a JSP. However, I think that its an important convenience issue. Thus, I propose to you to have also a LabelKeyValueBean class which would allow to

Semantics and terms aside, there is a key difference between the approaches being discussed: (a) In the HTTPD way, the release manager can post a release (prejudged to be alpha quality) with a formal version number, with no vote from the rest of the PMC. (b) In the Tomcat way, the

I did this a long time ago, and, I suspect, others must have too. I assumed that the lack of this meant everyone had sort of done it already for themselves. You might want to use what has been created already. Michael McGrady [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi everybody, The LabelValueBean is a good

non-standard attributes in taglib

2004-10-19 Thread Kichline, Don \(EM, PTL\)
I am proposing that the Struts HTML tag library be extended slightly to accept any non-standard attributes. Searching on the new groups, I have been hearing that developers are very strict on supporting a proprietary single-vendor lock-in. What I am proposing is a generic work around for this

Actually, I think what everyone's getting at is that you should evaluate and then label. Labeling right off the bat makes it look like the system is arbitrary - even if it is well defined that we start at alpha then move up. It would certainly look worse to downgrade than upgrade our rating,

Re: non-standard attributes in taglib

I strongly disagree that Struts should support any non-standard tags or attributes. I don't use IE and I despise websites that use IE specific tags so I can't use the site/app. properly. We've always done our best with Struts to produce valid markup according to the HTML and XHTML standards.
