Hi All
Having just moved house ( country!), and set up the HF radio gear for
the first time in quite a few years - I'm having a dabble with PSK31.
I suspect that I'm having problems with poor isolation between the
radio and the PC - at the moment the 'quickly knocked-up' interface is
'direct' -
In our current IARU Region 3 bandplan,
digi keyboarding is 7025kHz-7040kHz.
SSB 7030kHz-7100kHz is totally packed with SSB voice signals here.
Often there are SSTV signals 7033 LSB and strong Siberian CW beacons
around 7035kHz-7040kHz.
In actual practice, if one goes with the bandplan,
I uploaded the DLL to the files section but then discovered that the melp
dll is copyright protected so I took it down. There is a way to build the
melp dll file one's self. I am testing that out tonight, if I can do it
anyone can!

Yep our bands are 3.500-3.600 for cw and digital (idiocy to have only 100 kc
for half or more of the ops on the band).

Adrian,
How are you connecting your PC to the radio? It just a straight connection
of cable from/to the souncard and rig? I did this year ago when PSk31 was
new, even with this potentially poor method I was able to get 20 watts out
without an nasty raspy signals. 20-30 watts is plenty of
Two things I did when I started out with BPSK31: I purchased a Donner interface
(Web address is http://donnerstore.com,) and I purchased a PSKMETER (Web
address http://www.ssiserver.com/info/pskmeter). Also when tuning up and
adjusting your sound card use a dummy load and you should not have to
Yes. Go to ARRL's web site and download a frequency usage chart,

Adrian,
I googled optoisolators Ireland and Radionics Ireland has them in stock.

I think I can understand why. Why does it have to be so complicated to
get a cert with lotw?
Chuck, aa5j
PS I am debating whether or not it is more trouble than it is worth,
I thought that 7000 - 7025 was the Extra CW / RTTY / Data segment? At
any rate, aren't we (USA licensed amateurs operating in ITU Region 2 or
in international waters aboard a USA registered ship) allowed to operate
CW anywhere we have privileges (with the exception of 60m)? Or have I
missed

7000 - 7125 is OK for Data
7025 - 7125 is Data CW
CW is not permitted in

Doc,
I don't agree with your last.
CW DATA AND RTTY are allowed by Extra Class licensees 7000-7125 and by
General
and Advanced Class licensees 7025-7125.

You must consider the other ops who DO use LOTW. It is so much easier than
buying/making, filling out, mailing QSL cards. Chuck it isnt rocket
science, and once a member, very easy to update to insure you still live in
the same place, and have the same call, every couple of years. Doesnt
matter

Bonnie, thanks. I am glad to see your reference to 7020 to 7040 for
digital DX. I am surprised to see the USA PSK31 ops calling CW on
7070 but Europeans calling on 7035 with no response. The Hell
station I worked from CN8-land the other night, on 7038, was loud in
the USA, but no takers.
Yes Peter, I do.
Andy.
Hope you're sending your LoTW QSL records (ALL of them, not just
Olivia)
to hb9bza for his LoTW users database project
(http://www.hb9bza.net/lotw/).
I find it very helpful when I see a station on the waterfall and I can
tell that they're known to QSL via LoTW.

Rick,
Hi - If you want a complete soundcard interface in kit form, at a low
price, I recommend the one being sold by Dinish Gajjar, VU2FD. I bought
