Leslie, Maybe I need to get a USB computer Mike? This would simplify things for you. The FDMDV software sees the USB headset as another sound card so the second card is not necessary. The microphone on the headset would be the voice input and the earphones would be used for voice output. You

The impression that I have had is that while all the modes were proprietary, Pactor was reverse engineered in software (Linux program) and hardware/firmware (AEA, Kantronics). The SCS modems always worked much better since the other companies apparently could not properly implement some of the

Paul Rinaldo, ARRL CTO, has gone on record as claiming Hell modes to be J2D when being transmitted from an SSB transmitter as most of us do. Looking at the ITU Emission Classifications, it seems to me that J2C would be more appropriate. Since it is not a continuously varying tone like analog

Keep in mind that this is all 3rd part hearsay -- supposedly Kantronics implementation of Pactor I was by agreement with SCS and the part of that agreement that would have given Kantronics access to Pactor II and Pactor III was reneged on by SCS. I don't know if the agreement was legally

Les, Forgot about the Signalink vox keying. That eliminates the comport, but it does bring up another issue with that kind of interface. The FDMDV signal is wider than most and tends to need a bit more audio to key the Signalink compared to other modes like PSK31. First thing to do is confirm
