Many thanks for the tips and help - I'm going to print them all out
and take them up to the shack (it's the club shack since I can't have
deadly radiation-emitting antennas at home, and there's no internet
connection up there) and play around a little

just joined the group and have been using digital modes (=PSK only)
for a couple of weeks now.
I've occasionally got a bad modulation report - two or three times
out of maybe fifty contacts - and was wondering how I could
personally check the modulation as the signal is transmitted.
