[digitalradio] Adventures in CMSK land

2010-08-14 Thread garylinnrobinson
Well, I heard about CMSK a few days ago and downloaded the program. Initially I had ZERO luck with decoding anything with it BUT part of that was NOT a lot of CMSK signals on the air hi hi I got on CMSK on the 11th of August and called CQ numerous times on 30mtrs (10.141) and SOMEONE did

Olivia, Domino, and even MFSK16 can both fail to get good copy for the exact same reason. So CMSK is not alone for sure. However, it's surprises me that MultiPSK seldom fails to decode an olivia signal while FLDigi (my fav program) does it much more often. I suspect there is something that

I have been hearing a signal on or about 14.076 for the last several days and don't know if it is related to the sigs you guys are hearing on 14.171 or not. It is 500hz wide and sounded like Olivia mode BUT I think I have identified the mode as PAX with MultiPSK. I have partially identified the

2008-07-23 Thread garylinnrobinson
Generally a good idea/plan. Though when the sun spot cycle really begins to heat up the PSKers will fill up their area and move up and generally anything other than a PSK signal most of them dismiss as noise and blindly QRM right on top of it. Also when any major or semi major contest is on the

If most PSK operators are interested in rag chewing -they need to move on to a better digital mode. PSK and RTTY are the two worst modes available. And that's the problem. Too many people, groups, and leaders in the Ham Community promoting OLD and less than effective modes of communication. I

I was reading through these earlier postings and came across this one and was a little bit baffled. How did you measure the throughput of Olivia 250/2? From my testing it appears to be approx. 38wpm not 10. Though that is clearly not as fast as RTTY. Olivia has never been about being super
