Thanks for picking this up and for the hints. Sadly the version
I am running is slightly too old for VOLATILEDIR and stat is
not an option for performance reasons, if I am reading the documentation
correctly.
Best regards,
Thorsten

Hi,
I have the following command for retrieving mails from another IMAP mail
server
dsync -D -v backup -R -u jon.doe imapc:
I't ok and works, but I'd want to copy messages outside of /var directory,
is there a way to do that?
Thanks in advance!

It looks like the binaries are stripped. There should be a "debug" package
you can install with symbol information. Then, the backtrace should be much
more helpful.
I installed the debug package and the backtrace now is:

Hello,
I have unconventional load profile for my email server and I would like to
ask if someone can suggest optimizations in my case.
I have only one mailbox on the server for collecting emails from variety of
external mail servers. I use Postfix for collecting emails and Dovecot to
provide IMAP
I looked up the source code, and permissions is hardcoded to dovecot, so
only recompilation can change the permissions of emails, folders, mailboxes.

thanks for your input.
Bill: deliver is just a symlink to dovecot-lda
Stephan: I don't know, and and it even does not work when I use deliver -f
"postmaster@ourdomain.internal" - I get the same error message.
A part of the mail I got when using 2.2.23:
Return-Path:
Delivered-To:
No reason to tell me about security, I just need chmod for my tests. Where
to change it ?
