I couldn't figure it out, as I ordered a K4D in February with no deposit,
and received it in just 7 weeks.
It occurred to me he might be talking about putting money down for a K3
board, not a K4
The initial wait when the K4 was first announced (in Dayton?) might have been
that long but that was a few years ago. The reports you are seeing now are
present day reality. Elecraft publishes shipping status on their website for

had mine The wait time is down to 3-4 weeks, so not as big a deal as 2
years ago.
Ordered mine in Jan and had it within 4 weeks.
