and unplug the PS/2 mouse then when Linux starts the hadware wizard will ask
if you want to remove the PS/2 mouse configuration. Either choose No or

I had the same problem in MDK 7.1, what I did was to cut and paste a user
from the /etc/passwd file to the /var/zope/access file. Yes a hack but it
worked.

How would I then be able to run apps that look for libdl.so.1?
(BTW, Mandrake 7.1 had libdl.so.1.)
