Title: problème au démarre de X
Hi guys,
I just heard that the perl DBD::mysql module has not yet been ported over to
perl 5.8
Can anyone verify that??
Why on earth would mandrake standardize on 5.8 if such a basic module is
missing?
I mean who doesn't use mysql with their perl scripts???
I have a rather large webapp with

Bonjour,
Il

Je te
suggere de poser ta question sur un de ces forums, il sont bien frequentes et tu

cancel that question... I just discovered the package is called

The naming conventions for perl modules in mandrake really needs some
work...
they should copy the ppm package names, at least they are uniform..
it should be something like this:
perl-DBD-mysql-xx.xx.rpm

i have found that use of '?' in place of 'special character'
will allow removal of trashed character in file and directory names.

Mandrake's behaviour is correct as far as I can see. It has no way to
resolve hostnames (hosts file, nis, dns, ...).
As far as winDOS is concerned, I cannot answer exactly why it does work
because I don't know your particular situation. Maybe it is because you
use NetBUI or winbind.

I just updated to Mandrake 9.0 and I must say that the difference in CUPS
configuration between 9.0 and 8.2 is night and day. The biggest improvement is
in printer selection. I actually found my printer this time. Well, almost. And
that is the point of this post.

I was trying to change the mail alias for an account and noticed that
the link for
/etc/aliases - /etc/alternatives/mta-etc_aliases
is broken (i.e. not there). Am I missing a package from the install or
is this a bad link?
BTW I'm using MDK90

That cracks me up...
Its thinking like that that is holding mandrake back...
No point having all the LSB compliance in the world if your files are all

The guy that wrote it, did so as a DBD driver for MySQL.. thats its purpose,
thats why it was written..

The directory structure is the same in all i386 linux's ... What is in

the directory structure is the same..

Aha. Now that explains why XP boxes can resolve XP names w/o a DNS server solved.
Now, let's move onto part two. How does the XP box resolve the Linux box name, which
is 'moplx':
By registering to a WINS server on your network, via samba (possible)
broadcasts, your Linux will become known to Win machines (NB queries to the
broadcast address directed to UDP 137, in the hope of a WINS server
existence, would result in the registration of the broadcaster - in this

I tried to build the gcc-3.2.1 rpm's from
gcc-3.2.1-2mdk.src.rpm
(using rpm -bb gcc.spec) and the build bombs out during
installation into /var/tmp/gcc-3.2.1-root/
Here are the final lines of the build:
+ ln -s /usr/include/libgcj-3.2.1
Just a curiosity... do you have samba installed on the linux boxes? If
so it could be getting it this way.
