haven't tried scanning cross-processed negs, but I suggest you try
the Lock image color setting (it's on the Device tab -- you'll need
to display all the options).

I generally use the Nikon software (Nikonscan) which is very convenient, but
sometimes resort to Vuescan when I want to get the most out of a difficult
original.

the LS-4000? The capacity for
unattended scanning of whole rolls of film is a fine idea, but not useful if the
scans are out of focus over part of the image.
Since doing these tests I have avoided using the Strip Film Adapter for anything
but quick-and-dirty scans.

24.1 x 36.0 mm as I measured it. Extra 0,5 mm will be useful - it is rather
difficult to position the film precisely
a pixel more than the frame
width. In the other direction there is not the same problem -- the
scanner can capture beyond 36mm.
Do other makes or models of 35mm scanners score any better?
