I guess it can be said that 20 meters is open in some part of the world
everyday. I've been at home for the past week listening to 20 meters most of
the day and it has really been quiet. Thank goodness for greyline!!

Try PSK on 14.070 - open almost 20 hours a day. Often there's no SSB, little
CW but plenty of digital activity.

I agree that the PSK sub-band is a good indicator of band condition as
there is regular activity there.
14.070 USB ? Must be open after ~ 6AM

It is really great to see the activity pop up on the panadaptor, and

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my F5K. It should be here on Monday.
Can anyone tell me how well the F5K handles SWR. My antennas are mostly
better than 1.5 to 1 SWR except for 15 and 6 meters where the SWR creeps up
to around 2.5. Does the F5K fold back power as the SWR goes up or
Am I missing something? Is it possible to store different antenna settings
in the memory channel form for out of band memories? I have several

Antenna port selections are associated with the different bands, not with

There is only one general band that is outside of the ham bands and the four

Scott,
I bet you have a DPC issue.
Open the DPC checker in the FLEX Firewire control panel and let it run. Watch
it carefully and you should see a correlation between a very long duration DPC
(or several in a row) with the freeze ups.
If you see that, then we know where to start looking for
Carl, I have matched a little more than 2.5:1 with my 5000 and no
reduced power, however, the atu certainly does not have nearly as wide a

Hi all
As a new owner of a F3K I am trying to set it up to use EasyPal
I am having issues in that EasyPal will not open the Virtual com port
( I do have everything working fine with MixW though)
Does anyone out there have an F3K working with EasyPal and if so
can you let me know how you have it
What com port numbers are you using for the pair and which one is assigned to
EasyPal?

Perhaps Neal is onto something... at least I hope so. I did already do what
you suggested Tim with the DPC checker, which I failed to mention earlier.
I do get the long latencies when PowerSDR freezes of course. When it is not
freezing, it is running at less than 1000.
I checked the IRQ's and

I downloaded the com0com and installed 7 and 17.
As you found 7 is OK but not 17.
EasyPal will not look at virtual commports more than 0-8.
If you could reverse the 7 and 17, then it would work.

Yes Both will work but you have to remember to match up PWSDR
to what you have set in EasyPal
If you use Cat in PWSDR you must use Cat in EasyPal
and if you use PTT in PWSDR you also must use PTT DTR/RTS
in EasyPal
