Hello Scott,
Is whatever you are plugging into the headphone jack *completely*
isolated from ground? The shield on the headphone jack is not at ground
potential and should not be connected to ground. Did you try plugging in
a stand-alone pair of headphones?

I loaned out my Flex 1500 along with a 222 transverter to a friend who
wanted to experiment with the set up at his home for a few days. He called
me and said that he couldn't get the unit to work, and asked if I would take
a look. I went over after work expecting to find the usual assortment of

I have a Flex-3000, using a new computer (windows7) supplied by Neal. I
operate with an off-center fed dipole up at 40'.
This morning while operating USB on 12 meters, I encountered a problem

Les,
Hopefully just the internal fuse is blown.. You have to remove the ends,
and then the four rubber feet on the bottom, this will allow both boards
to slide out. There is a 3.5 amp auto blade fuse by the DC connector..
Check it, I bet it blew..

Your OCF dipole will have common mode currents on the coax because it is not
balanced. So yes, regardless of low SWR you have RF in the shack (unless you
are shunting the currents to ground with a good RF ground and some common mode
chokes) and it sounds like this stray RF is finding a path

Hi Gerald
I look forward to trying the update ... but, as I twiddle a million settings
trying to get my radio back to the way it was ... can you really not keep
any of the user settings between updates? Must I really completely re-enter
my Antenna table, CAT settings, VAC settings, CW strings,
I would like to add a few helpful hints for running PowerSDR v2.0.19 RC1
that might make your installation go a bit smoother.
1.) Read the release notes. Seriously, it is a best practice.
2.) You do NOT have to uninstall a previous version of PowerSDR before
installing PowerSDR v2.0.19 RC1
There are database schema changes and/or default parameter settings that change
between releases. User data is not kept completely separate from radio data in
the database, so a new DB is created to ensure the database integrity is
maintained.
You do have the ability to use the K9DUR Data
Hi Gerald,
Just downloaded the new version for the 1500 on to a vista and XP machine

Kevin,
You are welcome to import the old database but I cannot guarantee that there
won't be any issues in doing so. A number of parameters have changed.

Don't you imagine that if this were simply done, the Flex team would already
have done it? If they are anything at all, they are responsive to customer

Well the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it, applies here. I
successfully downloaded and installed v2.0.19 RC1 to my Flex 5000C. All worked
well, no problems. THEN I went too smart by half and decided to remove some of
the older versions of PowerSDR from the computer and somewhere in

Try uninstalling PowerSDR v2.0.19 RC1 and then reinstall. It will
automatically reload the new driver.

The firmware on the Flex site is for PowerSDR 1.x. The PowerSDR 2.x firmware
and drivers are all included in the software installer.
Did you delete you Firewire driver because it is impossible to delete the
firmware from your radio using your PC unless you really know how to do it.
Here is

Appears CW latency has improved when using a straight key.
More importantly, CPU Usage with PowerSdr on my system went from
averaging about 30% with 2.0.16 to averaging about 20% with 2.0.19.
Hmnn, that's just the opposite preference I would have expected to hear
if there was a preference. I would have though there might be some
possible traffic jams in the PCI buss. Shows how much I know!

If there is only one USB controller (hub) in the laptop, then there may be more

Update went smooth, so far very impressed.

Kevin,
The problem with that approach is that often you need to start with a fresh
database as a troubleshooting measure. Sometimes a setting can get
inadvertently changed to a value that can cause the radio not to work
properly.
Using SDRDataTransfer to move in settings from a known good

Gary,
WBIR is the same as in 2.0.16. We plan an enhanced version in the fairly
near future but it has not been perfected yet. This is new technology that
has never been done before so it is a bit of a science project. We are
getting close though to an improved version.
