I've been looking at all the comments from people, some saying their radios are
going to ship, others just wondering if they ever will. I fall into the second
category. I had hoped my 6700 would be here in time for FD, but in looking at
the order numbers received so far, I am at least 150
I think that it perfectly reasonable to expect a shipping date for something
that you ordered more than a year ago.

I completely understood when ordering that it was a pre-order for something
still in the design stage and I was investing in a unique product so I could
be one of the first. So, for me, sometime around the middle of 2013 is was
good enough.
Others of course may have had a different outlook and
Somehow an estimated ship date becomes embedded in cement and
woe be to them that misses it. It's much better to just say ...I don't
know...
than to make promises one may not keep.

There are so many variables its really hard to make any kind of estimate. If
they were to publish such a guess, there would be complaints from people
when that time arrived and they did not have a rig in hand. I'm sure the
best guess is ASAP, they want to ship as soon as possible as much as you
Hi All,
I have a Flex 5K (Flex reference :) And am considering a
Mitsubishi Mini Split AC system for the house. These units use inverters to
drive the fans and compressor. These units are small, quiet and reasonably
efficient, but I'm VERY concerned about the inverters producing

Hi Tony
I agree. I am aware of the excellent cw that can be had with an external
keyer. However the intent was to have an all in 1 cw box without a bunch of
stuff tethered to it other than antenna and paddle. Still not there yet but
as I mentioned it is now usable with the paddle which it was

I have two of the Mitsubishi split heat pump/AC units installed in the

Not directly related, but I have a Chigo ductless mini-split here in the
shack. The problem that I had with it is that in cool mode, the fan is
always running while the compressor turns on and off as necessary. It has a
handheld remote control, so I figured out (with a LOT of Internet help)
I think you hinted at the answer to your own question; no matter how often Flex
uses the word estimated, proposed or expected when it comes to shipping
dates, people will consider those dates to be carved in stone and they will
become irate if those dates aren't met.
I understand Flex's
You see something of the same marketing tactic used by YazComWood when they
run a big splash in QST and at the foot of the page, in tiny type, it says
that FCC has not yet signed off and the product is not currently for sale.
The advantage they have in that situation is that they can blame the

I have a 5000A, PSDR ver 2.5.3.

Any ideas on how to remedy?
Tnx

Dennis,
In virtually every case, the first thing to try is a Reset to Factory
Defaults from the Setup screen.

Your database has become corrupted. Open Setup and click on the button
that says Factory Defaults.

Hi.. Can anyone give me more of the scoop on whether there is or is not a
brief RF spike from the Flex5000A on keydown of the transmitter...? Is it
overshoot, real-time issues or...?
I ask because I want to use my 6m amplifier which requires 5W of drive max,
and the tube is rather pricey.
I ran a flex 5000 and alpha8410 I had a overshoot but flex brought out a update
that took care of it.
Remember the setting is not sllways the true wattage.

Hi Geep and the Flexer crowd:
This topic is near and dear to me so I'd like to answer this one on behalf

What mic, and are you running a mixer or other preamp?
I had an overshoot problem with a amplified D-104 and it turned out to be the
mic, not the 5000A.

I should have specified that my concern is for CW and digital modes more
specifically.
One of the responses was regarding a PSDR update that solved that issue, is
this the case...?
Thanks, Jordan...

I think the idea with the inverter technology compressors is that they vary
the compressor speed to maintain the temperature instead of cycling the
compressor on and off. The Mitsubishi unit I have runs the fan continuously
and the compressor drops to very low speed to maintain temperature. It's
