We have had issues with VIA chipsets where in Win7 you have to revert the system 1394 driver back to the legacy (Vista) version to get the radio to work adequately. I highly recommend using a TI chipset Tim Ellison, W4TME Customer Experience Manager FlexRadio Systems™ 4616 W Howard Ln, Suite

Ron, Every card is different (each individual card) but I have a history of Startech cards going bad and locking up people's machines, especialy at boot time. I think there is a reason the SIIG cards cost a bit more and its because they are of a higher quality. I haven't had 1 SIIG card fail me
