I'm planning on upgrading my computer and getting a Mac Mini (2.5 GHz
quad core i7, 16 gig RAM). Does anyone have any experience running
PowerSDR with Parallels or Fusion 5 on a Mac?
While we're on the subject; is anyone running PowerSDR under Windows 8?
Any gotchas there too?

Ken,
I don't know about Fusion 5 but I know Parallels does not support firewire. I
imagine Fusion does not either.
I would suggest running Boot Camp and load Windows 7 on that partition.

Thanks for the replies guys! I neglected to mention I have a Flex 1500
so I would be using a USB port, not Firewire. Any problems with
Parallels or Fusion using USB ports?
Thanks again and 73,

Parallels 8.0 states USB 3.0 support. I have no experience with that so good
luck. I do see they are informing people to stay away from Windows 8 until
fully tested. You may want to go with Win7 if you go this route. Also I am not

New computer boxes can be so cheap that you can think of one as just
an accessory for the rig. My last computer purchase was a dual-core
2.66 GHz Pentium eMachine with 512 KB mem and 160 GB HD for $299
about a year ago. Adding $30 memory and it is still pretty cheap. It
even had serial and
Yesterday was a personally frustrating day in that three of my good
students (all who have gotten their licenses, one who upgraded to
general even) are moving and will not be returning to our school in
the fall. That puts a dent in my science/robotics/ham-radio program at
my school.

Brian,
PowerSDR will not run natively on the MAC OS, and I don't think that
due to the heavy MS dependence, will it until the New Console is ready
for beta testing, projected first half of next year

Understand.. But won't happen unless you use BootCamp and dual boot
the Mac.. I bought a Quad core Dell, new on Ebay with Visa and 4 year
warranty for $393.. Drop $100 for the OS, that is only $293 or so for
the HW, just about give away..
The reason PowerSDR is so tight with .NET,
