Dual-core AMD on an Asus A8N-E motherboard, and it runs just fine. Maybe
your AOpen mobo was the problem.

Windows (which I was able to
do online without talking to someone in India) and reinstall 77 (!!!)
security and other fixes. But at least I avoided having to reinstall all
my software.

And no, I'm not promoting Windozzze either. When XP was just about
usable (after two Service Packs, plus probably hundreds of other
security fixes), Micro$$$oft replaced it by Vista, which is a prettier
dog but still a dog.
