Get Bruce Foster's Archive utility. It'll create an archive of the book (or a file) and include only the elements that are actually used. Rename your over-full directory, copy the Graphics directory created by Archive to the same name and location as your original and you should be all set. And

The largest single enhancement in 8 was moving to Unicode support... which would probably fix your font problems. But because we can't see what your font problems are, it's hard to say for sure. Why don't you download the free FM 8 eval version, apply the patches that have been released, and test
