Interesting!
Converting a raster image to vector format usually is fraught with problems, so
I wonder how well these folks do it. They claim to do JPG -> SVG conversions
too.
(Of course, converting from vector to raster is normal - "on the fly" from
vector to display or print during the
Hmmm ... PNG is not a vector format - it is a bitmap ("raster") too.
So, I am not sure what format your illustrator actually provided!

These guys do a free online PNG to SVG translation. I haven't used them, but if
you give them a try, you can let us all know if they do a good job or not.

No idea what your illustrator gave you, but a PNG is not a vector format.
Like JPG, it is a raster format.
