I think the value is stored in the ACP (ANSI code page) key under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Nls\CodePage

My standard system has 1252 (Western European) and my Trad. Chinese
system has 950 for this key.

The character set used in the Command Prompt window is stored in the
OEMCP key.

With Windows XP I am using Control Panel > Regional and Language
Options. I click the Advanced tab and choose a language from the
Language for non-Unicode programs menu. I need to know what key this is
stored under in the registry. If someone can steer me in the right
