Maybe this has been answered before, but I stumbled over it numerous times: When pkg needs an update, it's performed first and pkg exits just ok, but the original action wouldn't be done. This is a little bit confusing when running it manually and potentially harmfully in a scripted context.

I made the mistake of telling portmaster-3.17.3 to build mail/mutt-devel instead of mail/mutt. Evidently portmaster sees the port has moved based on /usr/ports/MOVED, which is good, but it erroneously calls pkg, apparently without arguments, and the remaining output looks a bit broken. Regards
