Thanks very much. I use my own method to do this mapping, it works well...
I just to want to how does freetype2 to deal with this.
Thank you again. I will leave my code unchanged.

Re: [ft-devel] Freetype demos on fedora (Re: Freetype-devel Digest, Vol 158, Issue 37

2018-03-24 Thread Armin Hasitzka
Thanks for your feedback.

The issue in my case was just that I missed to clean up some debugging code
that I injected into an *.mk file while trying to track down the issue (awks).
Ultimately, the hint from Kushal did it for me - as far as I can tell,
libX11-devel was missing.

Thanks again for all the quick replies!

"dnf --srpm download freetype-demo" to get it) then "rpmbuild --rebuild " would
probably tell you what fedora devel packages you are missing.

Also, you might need to be using "gnome classic" (it is a session option below
your login prompt") to be using X11 programs. Again, installing
gnome-classic-session will probably bring in everything you need, if you do not
have x11 already. The default gnome shell is wayland - I don't use it as it
does not work well on my hardware.

Thanks for the hint, haven't had the devel of libX11 installed yet. But the
issue still exists (even after new clean builds). The problem might be
connected to different paths of of the lib on 32/64 archs (found a comment
about that). I will investigate further! :)

Are you sure that you can execute any (native) X11 program at all?
Maybe you have to install some additional X11 libraries.

[ft-devel] Running ftview + ftgrid on Fedora

2018-03-24 Thread Armin Hasitzka
Is there any chance to compile + run these demo programs on Fedora? I can
successfully compile the demo suite but when I try to run any of the programs I
get a "could not allocate display surface" error. I am able to trace that back
to the the /graph library but before going into any details there - is there
even a chance to get these running on Linux/Gnome3?

No, I mean `FT_Set_Charmap'. `FT_Select_Charmap' usually doesn't work
for PCF fonts since they don't contain standard mappings.

Your sample code doesn't extract the BDF properties from the PCF files
to derive the character mapping information, as mentioned in a
previous e-mail. Please read carefully what I write! I already
invest far too much time in answering your e-mails...
