I would like to propose using the standard gtk file selection
dialog, instead of gtkfilesel2 in the current sources. I realize
that gtkfilesel2 has some additional functionality. However:
1. I know for a fact that gtkfilesel2 has some bugs. The current
directory displayed is often wrong.

I've had a look through the mail archives, but I could'nt find and any words
written about a possible Java port.
I've been using Xacc for ages and I like it, and I wanted to attach it to a
MySQL database by modifying the engine, but I thought it would most likey be
easier to start a Java
You could always use ODBC. As for databases, you could use
PostgreSQL. I doubt many people here are really interested in
re-implementing in Java (although I could be wrong).

AFAIK, there are no plans underway to implement a Java port of the
Gnucash. As a Java/C programmer myself, I tend to think that doing such
a thing
