don't commit it yet (leave the user on the same line.)

you could change those?!? I always suffered along with the
default names and renamed later. Yes, the line at the top is very useful
(assuming it's true).
Your changes appear to be a complete improvement to me. I have not read
the relevant bug report though.

minor issue. I'd vote for a renaming.
If .sh implying a script is the problem, you can always use .txt or even
.gnc for GnuCash instead of .sh

the $15 goes in the
deposit column of my bank account and the balancing account is
the Expenses:Computer Hardware account. It goes in the Rebate column,
because the rebate effectively reduced the expense of the printer. It
is not income it's a rebate.

Fixed it. Thanks warlord/Derek for the IRC help. I had to
remove not my build directory, but my install directory
(/opt/gnucash-1.9.svn in my case)
