Thanks for responding. I am clear that I want to have all the entities
separate- I thought I had set them up that way, but cannot discern how to
access them individually, and that's why I think I might have missed something
in the initial set up and that they are combined.

David,
After creating a budget, have you not tried the Budget Report?
That can show you actual vs. budgeted by period with variance and include
yearly totals. The report also now lets you choose what periods you want to

That is what I have done. I am testing now with only one commodity -
Associated British Food. I have the id set in the security editor as ABF.L.
I have tried setting this on the CSV file to ABF.L. I have also tried ABF.
Still get the message "Commodity From could not be recognised". I have
changed
I was specifically referring to the the CSV price import tool in Version 3.2.
I am trying to import the stock prices using this tool. Cannot get the Share
ID to be recognised whatever I do.

All you have to do is to set the column sizes (apart from description) as
you want then double click the
Nope, that “feature” is still intact. The Tutorial & Concepts Guide notes this
behavior at 2.3.3.
To date, no developer has felt the need to change the behavior of the
Description column, as idiosyncratic as it may be. Personally, I’d welcome a
change to make this column behave as most users
Just to be clear, I did test the Action field both with and without the “Use
Split Action field for number” setting. Neither case resulted in clearing the
reconcile flag. This was tested on 3.2 on MacOS High Sierra.
In both cases, trying to change the NUM field DID clear the fire the warning

Hello everyone,
GnuCash, via GTK, has a very rich ability to change the fonts and colors
and customize how GnuCash looks. However, I think it's safe to say that
it's not a trivial exercise for the average user.
However, the recent discussions between Adrien, GTI, Peter, and others have

Watch that other thread about release 3.2 possibly different from 2.6.x.
So far I have not seen any comments about whether editing the action field
does or does not unreconcile a particular split line.

Hi all,
Recent convert from Quicken and pleased overall...BUT...
version 2.6.12 on a windows machine and 24" monitor-fine; on a HP

I have tried trawling through the many posts, dating back 8 years!, and

While I certainly understand the concern that editing a transaction
dereconciles it, there are a couple of points I'd raise.
First, if you are editing a reconciled transaction, you are probably pretty
aware of it (and the dialog message Gnucash puts up should make it obvious).
Second, editing
There is a warning. You get to continue to edit the transaction and thus clear
the flag, or cancel and don’t edit the transaction. There is not an option to
both edit and not clear the flag.
Note, the flag only clears for amounts, accounts, NUM, and I suspect dates, but
I didn’t test that last

Gnucash 3.2 on MacBook Pro running 10.13.6 High Sierra.
I have not seen any other comments in the mailing list but I have a variable
and occasionally annoying displacement between the mouse icon on the screen and
the actual position of the cursor on the screen.
For example, in ledgers, I have
So... question:
If one edits the transaction by changing an account, should that
un-reconcile it?
Say I make a credit card donation to a business and charge the expense
to home repairs. Then I go back and change it from home repairs to
charitable donation. Should that un-reconcile it?
Thanks so much for the work-arounds. I'll investigate tomorrow.

As a work around, how long is the time lag between when you normally reconcile
and when you find out what the voucher #s are? Would waiting until you have
them all to reconcile work? (simply marking them ‘c’ for cleared in the
interim, but not doing the final reconcile without the voucher info)

I should perhaps have indicated that writing this sort of thing used to

You replied to my post that said that it did not happen on 2.6.19 with a
post saying that it did happen for you, hence the confusion.

Actually, it does. I've just done it. It's entirely reproducible. When you
click out of the row having entered a number, the y changes to n. The only
niggle (if you like) is that I am manipulating GnuCash via an RDP session. I
have no idea whether that affects things.

I am not sure what ""present value" of series of "rents"" means, but the
answer is by math. This is just a mathematical
Very pleased to see this feature in 3.2 as I have been getting problems
importing with F:Q. Unfortunately I am having a problem with getting the
tool to recognise the stock ID. I have tried the normal version eg ABF. GVC,
ITV etc and I get the reddish colour with the message Commodity From could
