I offered a guest OS on my VMWare server to host gnucash.org but it was
declined.

Does the website need to be up and running for updating security prices in
the Price Editor? Everytime I attempt to update prices since the website
went down, it hangs gnucash and I have to kill the process to exit the
program. This always leave the program with a lockfile open and I have to

OK, but don't forget, this is an entirely volunteer operation. If there's
a feature you want in the program, you can volunteer to program it. If you
would like a more reliable website you're welcome to chip in for more
servers, or some other fashion of redundancy. In general, if you've got

John,
Oh dear, my apologies. I had looked at the Tutorial, and did not at glance find
the same content that I was using online. I see now that it is indeed the same
thing, with the same detail. Thank you for pointing that out.

You're mistaken. The Tutorial and Concepts Guide is available via the Help
menu. Linux users may need to install a gnucash-docs package to install it; the
Mac and Windows bundles have it built in.
You can also access the nightly documentation builds at
Yeah, the replacement power supply that was supposed to show up today didn't.
Linas said on IRC today that it will likely be 3 more days.

Frank,
Thanks for that link. However, I am at the point of setting up my investments,
and had created the brokerage account and was just getting started on setting
up the security accounts. For this purpose I was using chapter 9 in the online
documentation on this subject. From what I can tell,
OK, thanks. Unfortunately, this multi-day outage does not give a warm and fuzzy
to the new potential convert from Quicken to GnuCash (me).

Is the site still down? I cannot access it, so I'm guessing it is. Is there an

Hi Christopher,
Thank you for this suggestion. Unfortunately, I failed to mention
that I'm running GnuCash on a Mac (Mojave, 10.14.6). I don't think the
Windows repository you sent will help me much. I am willing to try the
beta version of the reports if I can do that without jeopardizing my
