[GNC] Balance Sheet mismatch

2022-05-31 Thread Fred Tydeman
In running a Balance Sheet for today, the values in Total Assets and (Liabilities & Equity) do not match. Any suggestions on what could be wrong? Does it depend upon transactions being Reconciled? ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org

[GNC] $0 total balances wrongly appearing on Balance Sheet

2022-05-31 Thread Fred Tydeman
In looking at the list archives, I see that this problem was reported back in July 2020. I did not see what version of GnuCash was being used then. I am running GnuCash 4.10 on Fedora Linux 35 and get the same results. One of the accounts only had three transactions: buy 1 unit, buy 1 unit,

Aaron, 1st David is correct, you don't set up the expense account as subaccounts of your checking account. They are Expenses and you debit the expense account and credit the bank account. By looking at the expense account you get the "running total" of the expense. 2ndly, Budgets are set up

Aaron, >From your description it sounds as though you have created sub-accounts of your checking account to implement a budget process. If this is the case, it is the opposite of normal accounting proceduress. To account for expenditure in a specific category the generally accepted procedure is

[GNC] Nifty Feature for Examining Report HTML for Customization

2022-05-31 Thread Adrien Monteleone
Until now, if I wanted to examine the HTML behind a report, I exported, opened it in a browser and used the built-in inspector, or just opened it with an editor. (using an inspector lets you play with changes and get instant feedback) I happened to be right-clicking around a report just now,

[GNC] Spanish language switched to English

2022-05-31 Thread rmomxtx
When we installed GnuCash 4.6 on a Windows 10 computer with Spanish as the operating language, the menus, icons and journals were in Spanish as has been the case with previous versions of GnuCash. Recently it reset to English. Any insights about how to turn this around? Using the program in

Re: [GNC] Strange incorrect due date calculated on a duplicated bill

2022-05-31 Thread Adrien Monteleone
Scratch that. I inadvertently put 11/7/22 as the posting date, so it correctly calculated the due date as 11/27/22. But this was a 2021 bill. When I caught the mistake, unposted and reposted for 11/7/21, it still calculates the due date as 19days instead of 20. Gremlins abound. Maybe

Interestingly, I tried unposting and reposting several times yesterday to no avail. I normally do not shut down GC when done, but I had a few crashes yesterday, so I started fresh this morning. I just tried unposting and reposting, and now it works fine. I'll leave it up to the gremlins and

I'll check that too, but really, it shouldn't matter should it? Net20 is Net20. If a company independently wants to give leeway for weekends or holidays, I don't see why GnuCash should assume it. Regards, Adrien On 5/31/22 9:42 AM, Derek Atkins wrote: Maybe you usually don't post on Sunday

Hi all, I wanted to circle back on this issue that I opened a couple weeks ago. I came down with the flu, as did the rest of my family, so I haven't had a chance to look at this again until this weekend. Also, I'm not sure if I'm creating the response to the mailing list in the most optimal
