I did not try it with Accounts Receivable invoices since the other ones
who responded said one cannot delete invoices, but has to re-use then.
Nonetheless, just knowing the "Delete" button works for transactions is
also interesting. Thank you.

I don't use invoices so this may not be applicable, but for transactions...
If you are inside the transaction, the delete button will just delete the line
you are on.
But if you just click on the transaction without starting to edit it, the
delete button will delete the entire transaction.
So
You can't delete invoices. You can re-use them.
