Before you get tempted to pay for a stop-payment order (just to be sure…), check the terms and conditions written in your bank agreement. Many banks don’t promise to actually not pay the check. There are often weasel words about “best effort” etc. It happened to my sister. She paid for a

Thanks for pointing that out; it helped with the outstanding $200 check I had trouble getting rid of. However, since it won't extend back any farther than 50 days, I think it won't be likely to help when (if?) that check I wrote to the nonprofit back in December finally clears. Eric. On
