Nice find. On the report start date issue, are you using a specific custom date or one of the presets? Mine are all set to ’start of accounting period’ and my book’s accounting period is set to ’start of current year’. I’m not seeing any loss of start dates. Perhaps some other date setting

I believe the tab scrolling issue is something related to Gtk+3, not GnuCash. I know it’s been talked about somewhat, but I don’t recall if there is a bug filed on it or not. (this would be a Gtk bug, NOT a GnuCash bug. Gnome just moved their bug tracker to Github so you’ll need a separate

I love the new look - so much better and cleaner. I have 8 tabs open at any one time and can see 6 without scrolling - that's the same as the number of tabs in my web browser - so what's the problem? If the tabs are too big - how about abbreviating the name (e.g. by changing "Profit & Loss"

Stylesheets within GnuCash are for reports. They are very limited in customizability. (and it seems even some settings don’t work at all) Most advice I’ve seen on this front is to copy/paste or export reports to a spreadsheet or browser and work from there on making them ‘pretty’ as needed for

I had similar experiences with 3.1 on OS X 10.13.4 on a 2015 MacBook Air. My standard setup opens 4 accounts and one report, a version of Balance Sheet that presents an overview. With 2.6.19, they all open at once; with 3.1-1, they open in sequence (is there also a redraw in there somewhere?)

You can tailor the colors and fonts to your liking using a custom CSS file. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘layout’ but the new Gtk+3 version does have more padding in many areas. I don’t think this is easily changeable, but it might be possible. I’m not sure what is causing your flickering

I have been using Gnucash for a while now on a OSX laptop.  So far I have been satisfied with all its nuances.  However, this latest release I am more than unhappy with.  I don't know if my issues are the same between all OS' but as for my Mac I have gone back to v2.6.19-1. What I do not like
