Checked out Union Slough NWR this morning and found it still quite full of water. A total of 6 Least Sandpipers and 2 Lesser Yellowlegs comprised the shorebird portion of the program. Plenty of Soras calling and a single Virginia before the sun got too high. At least 2 Least Bitterns were just off the headquarters blacktop where they've been for a few weeks. A total of about 1000 pelicans were spread all along the refuge.

The weather has been great this week, but I'm ready for a change. The forest migrants have filtered away as the week's gone by, with very few left at Call Pk this morning. And, except for the Union Slough Merlin, hawk movement has been nonexistent.
