Caught a break in the rain for a couple hours, so I checked out the
field at 120th Ave. and 270th St., Kossuth Co. Flushed a flock of 70
Smith's Longspurs twice and had a flyover flock of 60 Laps. Also present
were 35 Pipits and a Short-eared Owl.
East of Algona, there were 23 Smith's Longspurs at the new planting
adjacent to St. Benedict WA. Then the breeze picked up, the drizzle
started again, and the temperature began to drop.
