System data sets (such as Catalogs, SMS control data sets, SHCDS, HSM

I dont even understand what the problem is.
AWS is simply a disk format for a sequential file of tape blocks. What is
inside those blocks are for the program that reads/writes them to decide...
AWS does not decide that. You can easily compress, slice into blocks, and
write to AWS.

Moreover, a CICS macro would start with DFH... it wouldnt be called
IDENTIFY.

Why in the heck would you want to do that?

If youre using LE, you can't mix 31 and 64 bit, because 64-bit C using LE
uses a 64-bit XPLINK which passes parameters from the stack above the bar.
I think you will have to write a glue assembler module to receive control
in AMODE 64 then SAM31 CALL SAM64 and back.

If you think CICS and IMS are transactional only, youre stuck in the '80s.
As an example, ICCF on

It's not good to argue with the guy who writes z/OS for ibm how it works.

Itschak,
Looks like you want _BPX_SHAREAS=YES.
But note:
"If the extended attribute for the shared address space is not set, the
program will not run in a shared address space, regardless of the setting
of _BPX_SHAREAS. The attribute is set by extattr +s and reset by extattr -s.

The electronics to do arithmetic, etc were all on what IBM called SMS

Ummm ... not possible. To reprogram a board, you had to take a special IBM

Looks like maybe he wants _BPX_SHAREAS=REUSE

Seymour,
Just like all z boxes these days, the z114 only runs in LPAR mode. There is
no way to defin\e an LPAR on a z114 for any machine type earlier than
ESA/390. Remember, z114 is a post z10 box.
Plus, SIO and its brethren do not exist in z/Arch. :) They were eliminated
from the instruction
Enzo,
Your problem may be that IBM no longer has the tools to generate Licensing
for this machine.

The lowest level LPAR supported on z114 is ESA/390.

The IBM part # is 41U0111 for a single phase 240VAC cable for the z114.
