John,
I think that you have the OLD pricing on the annual service agreement for
the professional version. You can get it for $695 right now, but not in
2006. From what I was told the annual SA will be a -LOT- more than $695
retail starting next year. In fact, it will actually cost exactly 3x what
I think that's the rub here. Imail is becoming just too expensive
considering what the competition is offering for far less. The only
reason we've hung in so far is becaues we already own a license. If I
had to choose a mail server today it would be Smartermail which retails
for $599 with

William, those prices are correct. That is not for SA, it is for a new Imail
Secure Server license. And as long as the distributor has stock and you can
purchase it, you can register the existing SA sku's.

John,
I don't doubt at all that the prices you quoted are correct. Just keep in
mind that anyone who does not renew their Imail Server unlimited users SA at
$695 (retail) very soon is NOT going to be able to get it at that price as
of next year. As of 2006, there is supposed to be an extremely
Hi All,
Yes, you have very accurate information from your reseller/distie! these
prices are correct for the Cross Grades (XGD) which is pricing available to
all IMail SB, IMail Pro, IMail Express and Instant Messaging customers. And
yes, per John's comments, prices will be lower when purchased
Thanks for the info Kevin. I feel for you - when ipswitch talks pricing
and product the messanger needs a flack jacket :)

The reason they need a flack jacket is because we've paid and paid for
pretty dismal upgrades to the software. I know Ipswtich people feel
they're huge but not when I can buy something for $.10 on the dollar
that does more. At this point the pain in the ass factor of switching is
in high gear.

I also left you a voicemail regarding a different matter last week. I've
not heard back. I know you are probably swamped, perhaps you can have an

David,
You can email me offlist if you want but I was curious if you knew of
any diffrerences we should be aware of when considering smartermail?
Thanks,

Nope. I'm still waiting to see the new features in the upcoming IMail.
We are pleased with IMail and have been with them since the days of 2.x or
Hi All,
So after taking in all the feedback from the forum, we sat down in RD to
investigate further and we believe we will be able to provide Firefox
support on the Mac starting in a few weeks when IMail 2006 ships. Our first
choice was Safari (given it ships with OS X) but using the same code
Great job of getting involved and listening to user concerns, Kevin! You're
most likely winning customers back at every step.

Hi All,
Regarding this, wanted to add some comments:
I know, lots of you here in our club are not really a fan of the anti-spam
tools from IMail, but it works pretty good, thanks to our monster phrase
list and url block list.

Are most people doing a reverse DNS check now on
incoming email?
Mike
We tried to institute it a couple of weeks back. It
appears that the Spammers have learned to setup their DNS correctly. We
got more reverse DNS failures on legitimate mail than we did with spam. We
are finding the same holds true for SPF as well.

AOL requires a reverse DNS, I can't imagine anyone

Agreed. Kevin has a lot of ground to make up and it won't be easy.
Ipswitch has done a number on us in the past year.
Kevin is approaching this very well. He is answering questions and taking
our thought and concerns into account. I will wait to pass complete
judgment until I see the new
Just upgraded to 8.21 on our old server, and we have a new server in
route via UPS.
In anticipation of 9.0 ... should we migrate the 8.21 installation to
the new server first, then install 9.0, or install 9.0 fresh and then
try to migrate accounts, etc.
Thanks,
