We provide backup email service for a few of our clients for their exchange servers but with the great increase in SPAM we have found that we are sometimes bouncing messages to innocent third parties. I want to use a list of authorized users for the servers that we spool for so we can reject mail

Hi Chuck- The simplest way to avoid generating bounces is to have the primary server accept mail from you for all addresses and delete them silently on its own. But that does not protect you from a heavy dictionary attack that can bring down both the primary server and your cache. So we use

We do it with Postfix on a Linux box. That also lets us put ASSP in front of it which although I've heard some grumbling here about it is a great antispam frontend. This postfix/ASSP frontend sits in front of our Imail box and also in front of our Exchange box. We've even used it to control major

what is the correct way to limit the size of a list email in 2006? There's a max size limit but it's certainly not in KB like it says it is.

You could use iPlus Info Browser and schedule it to produce user lists periodically, ftp them to your front end host (i.e. Postfix) and let it bounce messages for invalid recipients.  You can download a trial version for a single domain from http://www.martekware.com.Thanks,Evans Martin
