If you have the SMTP Server installed that comes with IIS you can also use
CDONTS as a method of sending mail. It's fast, reliable, and best of
allfree ;-)
If you don't have the MS SMTP Server started...or you don't use it at all I
would recommend using ASPMail from ServerObjects.com or
the adduser.exe from a cmd line, but I
don't know how safe it is...

passwords! Directly into any ODBC datasource you choose. IMail won't
export the passwords along with the rest of the info all by itself. The

Interesting...I've got AOL 4.0 installed here and I've got an 'AOL Adapter'
listedif I yank it and start AOL I get the 'Updating AOL' text on the
splash screen.different releases of AOL maybe? Who knows...they are
wacky anyway

If your reffering to adding/deleting users then yes a few of us have done it
;-) Some through ASP scriptingand others via an ActiveX DLL I have
created.

Hmmm.this could be a neat little utility, but if we rely on dnscmd to
achieve it then any users would need the NT Resource Kit to use it. Of
course I think every NT Admin should own a copy or 2but not everyone
does.

I prefer to use the external database. That way I can integrate it into
other membership only areas of my web site. Seems to work perfect so far
and it's MUCH easier to manipulate with add-on software or home-grown
software.

They are pretty even as far as processor time goes. We get anywhere from
10MB - 50MB per day of combined POP3 SMTP traffic and the server seems
VERY happy. At any given time we usually have 40-80 users online with
IMail.
