If IMail thinks the domain is local (one of the defined domains or aliases),
then it won't try outside. So that means that the problem domain is
somewhere in the configuration of your system. Note that this could include
the HOSTS file!
The Relay settings determine what domains IMail will

In NT file explorer or whatever it's called, hit Control-F (aka Find)
and enter "hosts". Click "search" or whatever the button says.
As we have been trying to point for two days on this list, the NT
hosts file plays a critical role
The DNS lookup on that domain "gmcofa.com" shows to be correct and I can
email it from any other source but no part of my imail server will talk to
that mail server for some very strange reason.
That "very strange reason" is that the DNS entry for gmcofa.com is bogus.

Check to see if you have any aliases for that domain set up.

I randomly receive messages such as that below about unknown user. The
undeliverable messages are being sent automatically via ocx mail and asp. My
concern is that sometimes the messages are deliverd and sometimes they are
not. I know the email account is valid and that sometimes they are
IMail 5.08 for NT.
We have some users that gets mail returned because the recipient is "unknown
user". However this only happens when they send mail via Web Messaging not
with their regular OE or eqvivalent. Below is the header of one of the
returned messages:
