RE: [IMail Forum] Collaboration IM Issue
You can use just userid on a virtual IF: you set up DNS for mail.virutaldomainname.tld (or whatever) AND add the fully quallified name as an alias in IMail Admin. IE, for the virtual domain "domain", set up an alias on the General page for that virtual host. [IMail Forum] IMail under VMware
To preface this question, I have an extremely low mail volume with only about 200 users in 1 domain. I have outsourced anti-spam/anti-virus to Postini and now only get about 500 messages a day. Re: [IMail Forum] Block messages that claim to come from my domain
We use Declude (AV and JM). We don't whitelist our domain or the IP. But maybe it has to do with the processing order. We get a bunch of notifications (from Declude AV) about these attempts to send viruses, so perhaps Declude is running before the Verify MAIL FROM command, and sending out the notifications. We are not actually receiving the messages. I should've mentioned that. Christian Lawson wrote: Are you whitelisting the connecting IP or did you whitelist your domain? Darin.- Original Message - From: Chase Seibert To: Declude.JunkMail@declude.com Sent: Thursday, June 23, 2005 9:53 AM Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] custom delivery executable?Hey guys, We have a very non-standard iMail/Declude install. Basically, we only us the system for the SMTP protocol, as well as virus and spam filtering. Once a message has passed through those systems, it's delivered to a mailbox as normal. However, we don't allow POP or IMAP access to our systems. Instead, we parse the mailboxes when they change, pull out new mail and insert it into a SQL Server database for access in our web-based CRM. Messed up, huh? We are looking to skip the whole step of delivering the mail to a mailbox and then chunking it out. It's not a speed problem, but rather a reliability concern. Our current solution has about a .1% failure rate, meaning that some messages are not delivered until the next message comes along into that folder to knock it out. Ok, here is my question. I am wondering if there is some way to setup iMail/Declude so that it delivers a message right to a stand alone file, as apposed to a mailbox Qmail, for example, can do this. I doubt there is any out of the box support for this, so I started investigating using a custom Declude filter for this. From the manual: For more flexibility, you can have Declude JunkMail pass parameters to your program, using variables. For example, you can set up the test as 'TESTNAME external returnvalue "filename %INOROUT%"', which would send the %INOROUT% variable as a parameter to your program (which would be "incoming" for an incoming E-mail, or "outgoing" for an outgoing E-mail). Presumably, we could write a custom executable and define a rule for it in Junkmail. The custom executable would get the entire message body and just pipe it to a stand-alone file. If the message was later also delivered to an iMail mailbox, that's fine. However, I think the issue with that idea is that the filters will not have executed when that custom executable is called Accoring to the Declude manaul, the order of execution is: 1. IMail's Control Access file (to block IPs) 2. IMail's Kill List (to block return addresses) 3. IMail v8 anti-spam (most tests) 4. Declude Virus 5. Declude Hijack 6. Declude JunkMail 7. IMail's filters and extra IMail v8 anti-spam tests *we want to insert a custom exectuable here Is this even possible, or should I just start looking as Linux mail systems?-Chase Chase Seibert | Network and Systems Engineer | Bullhorn Inc | 617.464.2440 x119 | www.bullhorn.com --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. RE: [IMail Forum] Block messages that claim to come from my domain
Declude runs after the VALFROM check is processed, but Declude may be setup to not deliver the message to you. Check the headers of the message (if you can). If you see an X-IMAIL-SPAM-VALFROM header, then the 'verify mail from address' check is working. We've been getting a lot of infected zip files lately that are claiming to come from email addresses that don't exist in our domain. I realize that I can just explicitly block those that I've identified, but I want to know if there's a way to block future ones as well without explicitly knowing what they are. Re[2]: [IMail Forum] IMail under VMware
Are the quotes to signify it's possible but not a good idea? It's perfectly feasible, but needs to be accompanied by a firm idea of how to size/resize physical boxes to host virtual machines. I see people get carried away by the presumed savings in hardware, overloading a box with OSs/services that really need all the resources to themselves for performance reasons. With your load, it'll likely be perfectly fine, but you haven't mentioned what _else_ will be contending for the box's resources. --Sandy Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/download/release/ Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange or IMail mailboxes into IMail Aliases! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/download/release/ http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/ldap2aliases/download/release/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/
[IMail Forum] Declude Confirm Issues???
Hello All, I know this is not a list of the confirm product, but has anyone else had problems with Declude Confirm? It appears from the message below that it is a known issue and wondering what anyone has done to work around it??? Grant, We are in fact aware of this problem. However, since Declude Confirm is a free utility, we do not currently support it. We plan to take a look at this issue as time permits. Our highest priority is assigned to enhancements and bug fixes for the other products. We understand that this issue presents a problem for you. We will address it when we are able and will post a message to the mailing lists when it has been resolved. Re: [IMail Forum] Block messages that claim to come from my domain
The notification that Declude sends out to me does not contain X-IMAIL-SPAM-VALFROM (which makes sense, since it's just a notification, not the original email). I just want the notifications to go away, which should happen if the VALFROM command is processed first, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks Christian Lawson wrote: Declude runs after the VALFROM check is processed, but Declude may be setup to not deliver the message to you. Check the headers of the message (if you can).
