I suspect this bug is related to using an external editor instead of the
built-in kmail composer. I have been configured to use vim to compose mail
messages in kmail for years. I notice that when I close the

OK, I just checked again and the same problem is still there.
Start a new mail message; tab into Subject; type. Typing is not echoed in the
Subject field. It is present and is displayed when you tab out of
