FWIW, another data point:
Switching Kmail to offline and visiting the affected folder can stop the CPU
churn.
When i then keep it open in one tab and go back online, the CPU churn seems
gone for

Georg, can you check in Akonadi Console in Browser tab for duplicated
folders in Local Folders? If there are any duplicates, remove them. The
duplicates can be like Inbox
