(In reply to Thomas Tanghus from comment #46)
Isn't it possible to see what has changed between 4.13.3(4?) and 4.14?
4.13.x managed Courier servers without this problem.

The mail accounts which stopped working for me seem to use Courier as well.
Just send a mail to my gmail account (from yahoo) and that does work.

I had the same problem and found out that you can not give the same name to
a calendar and an addressbook (in owncloud it works but akonadi has a
problem with this).
That's it!

Freshly installed system from scratch, KDEPIM now at 4.11.5 and ownCloud 6.0.1,
but still no go.
Any hints on how to debug this would be much appreciated.

Doing a synchonize all through akonadi console with 'tail -f .xsession-errors'
produces the following output:

Thanks to comment #10 from Martin I now have a workaround (but fix is still
better):
Create a script (start_akonadi.sh) and make it executable
#!/bin/sh
akonadictl start

I now have a workaround which has worked consistently for me so far, so this
could help in solving this bug.

I now have a brand new freshly installed KDE 4.4.3 Debian Sid and didn't
experience this issue for a couple of days, but it started today again.
