Greetings,
I am working on a home lab as concept design for DHCP ipv6. I have two Rocky 8
VMs under PVE, one is server which installed kea-dhcp6 and the other is the
client. I used the dummy configuration in the Kea manual with a few changes on
T1 and T2 but the same IP information. But I don’t

Hi Yu,
Without looking too closely, I'd imagine that this subnet:
2001:db8:1::/64 does not exist in your network? Therefore there is no
way for Kea to select this subnet? It doesn't look like your traffic
was relayed, so your Kea server would need to find that

Greetings,
I have an interesting question for you esp for ISC developers. I want to only
use kea-dhcp6, which means I need VMs working as DHCP servers to provide IPv6
addresses to other devices so those clients can have IPv6 addresses. But I
don’t care or need that my kea-dhcp6 servers themselv

Xiao,
This is actually exactly why we implemented HA instead of DHCPv4 failover! So
that you can use the same mechanism for DHC

Hi experts,
I have configured two VMs in the same hypervisor as hot-standby mode HA. I
believe they are successfully communicating with each other with heart beat

Hi Darren,
But imagine you have a maintenance, and you don’t want the primary revert back
until the end of maintenance window. I found this API “ha-maintenance-start”
seems can be used for such situation.

Greetings,
I have two questions related to the kea design. First, seems currently we can
only assign numeric IDs to subnets, but for subnet management, it’s more
convenient to use a string, is it possible to add this feature? Second, how kea
design to distribute the ip addresses inside of the s
nment, which is pretty bad for security purposes
(if a user knows it, they can pretty much guess previous assignments). I
preferred personally the old ISC way of doing things.

Greetings,
I configured some sub-options for DHCPv6 Option 17 for RPD use. I didn’t find
too detailed information regarding how to customize those sub-options under one
option such as DHCPv6 option 17. Luckily, I found some examples from previous
discussion email. Before I added those options,

Hi ISC team,
I read the latest document on Kea 2.6.0 for new Hub and Spoke feature. In the
beginning, we thought it could provide N+1 backup. But after I read your
description and configuration example. I feel It’s more like multiple 1+1
backup, it requires the backup server has a 1-to-1 relati

clients). Again though, I've not tested. But since this is meant to
be used in a context where broadcast networking doesn't make sense,
having to use separate interfaces for each relationship wouldn't make
sense either.

Greetings,
I am testing kea docker in lab. I followed the instructions of the official kea
docker document and configured ipvlan L2. And I found I had ping loss from my
docker container to gateway IP as well as to Google IPv6 address. I decided to

I want to use Stork to monitor my kea service which is running in some docker

Hi experts,
I configured two client classes for my test RPDs. And I also configured three
subnets for three different RPDs. I found that even in the subnet
configuration, I have correlated the client-class “RPD_new” for that subnet 3
to use. But in reality, kea just ignored this configuration,
existing feature on
this.

Hi Jan,
“As I said, Kea and rest of the computers/clients are in the same network.”,
are they on different VMs of the same hypervisor? If so, you may need to have a
Virtual Router and then you will need to advertise the network using the
vRouter, thus the clients know the routes to the V6 serve

It is interesting that it was working before. I noticed that even I didn’t use
kea but configured two IPv6 addresses from the same IPv6 subnet, but they
couldn’t ping each other until I added a new VM as the vrouter. The purpose of
the vRouter is to advertise the default route via RA me
