Slightly different but related issue. Can suspend with by closing the
lid which didn't work in 15.10, although only without an external
monitor plugged in. But upon resume getting a hardware lockup and freeze

After fixing bluetooth, I suffered from the so-called bluetooth coexistence
issue. That is wifi stopped working whenever bluetooth was in use. Does this
affects you as well damien? The solution is mentioned here:

Since 16.04 on my Broadwell Low power Intel Mini PC, the sound ( and
video) is playing really low speed which change any sound played on the
PC.
TO overcome that I need to use the i915.disable_power_well=0 grub
switch.
I woud be great to have this work as default.

Besides constant noise there are terrible clicks and pops during system startup
and shutdown.

I am facing the same issue. I have upgraded from Xubuntu 14.04 to
Xubuntu 16.04 and I was greeted with a black screen just after my first
reboot.
I use a Radeon HD 5430 card with two monitors. Incidentally, I had to
switch off one of them so that the Live USB from which I installed the
upgrade
