Thanks for testing. We need to narrow it down a bit more by testing
some of the v4.7 release candidates. Can you test v4.7-rc1? It can be
downloaded from:
4.7-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.7-rc1-yakkety/

This happens frequently just after making a clean install of Ubuntu
16.10, I never had this issue with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with the same
device. The only error message in dmesg is this:

I built a trusty test kernel with commits 33d99113b110 + a220445f9f43. It can
be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1634545/trusty
Can you see if it resolves the bug for Trusty?

I built the final test kernel for the bisect, up to the following commit:
386e0f97a585fa6a6d4aad767884a760ce3c0782
The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1608236
Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not? I
will build the next test
I tried upstream kernel version 4.9.0-040900rc1-generic during 24 hours
and this issue occurred once less often but it happens.

It would also be good to test the latest mainline kernel to see if this
bug is already fixed there. It can be downloaded from:

If the bug still exists in 4.9-rc1, we can perform a kernel bisect to
identify the commit that introduced the regression.
