So, finally, I got installed some drivers which were failing and the

Nevermind. Doing some research I found out that, ONLY IN MY CASE (not
for normal Ubuntu image), the system-root is mounted on /overlay. This
was done to preserve the root modification, so during the boot that
/overlay is copied into the /. The problem is that in order to update

So after installing the new kernel and selecting it in the GRUB menu,
the system boots in initramfs shell. I installed the 32 bits generic
version... May this be another bug? Because this should generate the
initrd and the other needed parts executing the dpkg -i *.deb, shouldn't
it? Best regards
Well. After trying to install the kernel v4.15 kernel[0], the system
boots in initramfs . Seems as if there was not any initrd, so I get
stuck in this point by the moment.

Hello Joseph,
First of all, I want to thank you for your fast response.
I am using a base image that is used by my company, so no update was performed.
I will try with the latest v4.15 kernel[0] and see what happens.
Thanks in advance and best regards.

Hi
FIX:
If you have GD25q64 BIOS flash:
You should change the CMP bit (13.) of Status register.
The problem is CMP=1 and BP0-4=0,0,0,0 then all flash area protected.
Changed the CMP bit to 0 with SPI writer!
Enjoy!

Hi, I'm having the same issue on a Lenovo G510.
A workaround (at least for me) is to disable NetworkManager quickly after
booting, then it won't freeze.
After that, remove bcmwl-kernel-source and the problem won't happen with
brcmsmac, I can re-enable NetworkManager safely.
