The solution posted by aviral (aviral101) on 2022-09-28 solved this for
me on Linux Mint Cinnamon on a Dell with AMD Ryzen and NVidia GeForce

yup I am also facing a bug, sometimes it does not work. Found a solution
for it just run sudo update-grub and restart the system.

I am also facing the same issue, the issue also persists when you try
ubuntu without installing it. I tried same in zorin os and I can
successfully change the brightness when I try it without installation
but fails when I installed the os.
