Hello Jimmy,
It seems that your network rejected HTTP calls to the Internet. This
prevented the installer from receiving the list of packages to install
(via apt-get update) from the Internet. Presumably, it could be a proxy
related issue in your network.
Offline install is an alternative option

Also, are you sure this isn't an issue with the lab networking, since
you said that it works fine if you disable networking.
I will raise this with the team that handles the installer, because this
could be handled more gracefully.
