There are color theory resources online & https://www.canva.com is one or check
your local library. Get a general idea ahead of time, make up the lace, then
audition your completed piece in a fabric or craft store. JoAnn’s, Michael’s &
Hobby Lobby have reasonable selections. Even if you don’t
I think a light-ish yellow or light-ish green, a somewhat lighter version
of crocus leaves. Not too intense yellow or green, so the background
doesn't overwhelm the lace, but not so light either that it blends with the
paler part of the periwinkle.

The Sulky blendables are very nice threads for lacemaking. It produces quite
soft, matte lace. Periwinkles would look nice on cream, for a subtle contrast
or yellows/ oranges if you really want to make it stand out!
