I print with a desk-jet as I have it always at hand. I used to use blue
matte film. But switched to couloured paper as blank film is much more
easily available as window decoration, next to the wall paper. But maybe
that is just the case for crowded regions. Select a matte one

Another idea that I had for the Lace guild competition was a Medusa, with
snakes for hair, but mine would have been in greens and yellows and had a
mirror where the face should be, rather than the mask. This continues to
show how similar ideas can be when we are working on a common theme

One way to protect your lace from the pricking's ink is to use wax paper. In
the days before copiers were so easily available that is what I used. Of
course wax paper may be hard to find now!
