Everyone's different but from my experience... When I had thumb tendonitis the physiotherapist suggested I wear a thumb brace and rest my thumb (no lacemaking etc). The thumb got worse and I ended up with a trigger thumb. Only when I gave up wearing the brace did my thumb start to improve!
